There is no better collection of incredibly crafted, locally made, outside the box thinking than that whipped up in the imagination of Ray Mwihaki through her outfit BanoTano.
What is it? BanoTano is a publishing outfit that likes to have fun with words and wax and everything that works. She whips up hand bags, clutches, hoodies, bombers, candle coverings, children’s books and toys and games. Essentially Ray is a one stop shop for all things kitenge-pattern infused.
Through it all, they tell stories, having published two children’s books and a poetry book so far- ‘Who Dropped The Cake?’, ‘Life Goes Round’ and ‘Candles Along Ngunyiri Street’.
And if you’re horrified by the boredom of your own children BanoTano creates games and toys for the young and young at heart.
A ton of their dopest pieces can be found on It Just Wax, the page that holds most of the BanoTano merch. They work with beeswax, kitenge and recycled materials to make memorable gift items

If being kept indoors is making you realize your need to decorate a bit, have some fun outside of NetFlix and vastly upgrade your wardrobe; BanoTano should be at the top of your list.
